Hello everyone!

My name is Earle Wilson and I am a graduate student at the University of Washington. For the next 6 weeks, I will be on the R/V Revelle participating in the I08S repeat hydrography cruise. While on board, I will assist with CTD measurements and deploy Argo floats for the SOCCOM project. This blog will be a medium to provide updates of our scientific mission and to share my personal experiences while at sea. This will be my first multi-week research cruise and my first time being south of the equator, so I'm pretty excited for the adventures lie ahead.

I am currently in Seattle, getting myself prepared for my long voyage. In 2 days, I will leave for Perth, Australia. My itinerary includes a brutal 17 hour flight from Dallas to Sydney, which I am not exactly excited about. However, I will endure it in the name of science.

The science crew already has a cruise blog and you can check it out here. In my next post, I will give you guys a glimpse at what goes on at the UW float lab.

Until next time,
Earle
